Recommended First Step: Introduction to Herbalism and Tincture-making class.
GOAL: Reviewing herbal energetics (tissue states) and herbal properties to create balanced herbs through primary, secondary, and catalyst choices. Additionally, categorizing and evaluating herbs based on six categories (adaptogen, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral, expectorant, and nervine) in an activity that pairs 60 herbs into 26 synergistic pairings.
CLASS FORMAT: 25% direct instruction, 75% hands-on, practical experience in pairs
TOPICS COVERED: Review of Herbal Vocabulary, properties, and energetics (tissue states), Activity: Pairing Herbal Properties, Reviewing Herbal Actions, Activity: Identifying the Herbal Energies, and Activity: Synergy Circles (Goal: Pairing 26 Synergies)
LOCATION: Stokes Cooperative Extension office, located at 700 Main Street, Danbury, NC 27016.
TIME: 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM
PARTICIPANT NUMBERS: A minimum of five and a maximum of 12.
MATERIALS PROVIDED: Please expect information to be emailed prior to class and a packet of material, including 60 pre-cut slips of herbs (assess: Properties, Energetics, and Tissue State Results).
MATERIALS NEEDED: Introductory packet of materials, two coffee mugs, index cards
